5-Day Big 5 Serengeti Tanzania Safari

5-Day Big 5 Serengeti Tanzania Safari

Overview

Join us on a thrilling adventure with Kuwa Huru Tanzania Safari as we explore three of Africa’s most renowned national parks. This Tanzania Safari promises to be an unforgettable experience as we witness the stunning natural wonders of Serengeti National Park, Tarangire National Park, and Ngorongoro Crater. From the pristine streams to the dense woodlands and towering mountains, we’ll encounter an array of diverse habitats found in Northern Tanzania. Don’t miss out on this chance to witness the best wildlife adventure in Tanzania!

The Big 5 animals are the undisputed rulers of African wildlife. These majestic creatures are the most feared and lethal, which is why they are a must-see for anyone visiting Tanzania. The African Lion, African Leopard, African Elephant, Cape buffalo, and Rhinoceros make up the Big 5, a name they earned due to their difficulty to hunt and their deadly nature.

Fortunately, hunting regulations have drastically reduced over the years, making it easier for visitors to spot these magnificent animals in their natural habitats. Many safaris are dedicated to finding the Big 5, so tourists need not worry about missing out on this unforgettable experience. If you’re planning a trip to Tanzania, keep your eyes peeled for these remarkable beasts.

Day 1: Arriving at Kilimanjaro international airport

Upon your arrival at the Arusha Airport, your driver guide from Kuwa Huru Tanzania Adventure will warmly greet you and offer you a refreshing bottle of water. As you settle into the comfortable vehicle, your guide will take care of everything, driving you to Arusha Venus Premier Hotel, which is just a 30-minute drive to Arusha City Tanzania’s self-styled “safari capital.” During the ride, you’ll get a glimpse of the bustling Arusha City. Once you arrive at the hotel and check in, our experienced safari driver guide will give you a brief but informative briefing before you embark on your unforgettable adventure. Day 2: Full Game Drive in Tarangire National Park

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast and depart from Arusha towards Tarangire National Park. The two-hour drive offers a picturesque view of the changing landscape, from the city’s urban jungle to the open plains and charming Masai villages. Tarangire National Park boasts the highest density of elephants in North Tanzania, making it the perfect spot to observe these majestic animals throughout the year. The herds can even reach up to 300 animals, providing an impressive sight.

Located approximately 74.5 miles (120 km) from Arusha city and southeast of Lake Manyara National Park, Tarangire National Park stretches along the Tarangire River and primarily consists of low-lying hills on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. The park’s natural vegetation comprises mainly Acacia woodland and giant African Baobab trees, with vast swamp areas in the south. During Tanzania’s dry season, both the river and swamps attract an abundance of wild animals.

The Tarangire River provides water all year round, and between July and October, numerous animals from surrounding areas come to the river to drink. Visiting the park during this dry season offers an unforgettable natural wonder and the opportunity to observe magnificent creatures such as lions, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, and various types of antelopes and gazelles. With a little luck, spotting a python is also possible! The area is also a haven for bird watchers, with over 550 different species, including the Masai Ostrich, the world’s largest bird.

During our game drive in Tarangire, we will take a lunch break at a special spot offering great views of the national park. Keep an eye out for any nearby monkeys, as they may be interested in your lunch too! After lunch, we will continue our game drive safari and search for animals we haven’t spotted yet, aiming to cross off as many animal experiences as possible on our list. At the end of the day, we will prepare to head back, to our Hotel for Dinner, and overnight at Marere Valley Lodge

Day 3: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park

Today, you will be continuing your safari adventure in the Serengeti National Park, which boasts a breathtaking landscape that has been featured in some of the most impressive nature documentaries. The endless plains and abundance of wildlife are truly unmatched. The annual wildebeest migration, which includes over a million wildebeest, is a highlight of the Serengeti. It is truly a spectacle to watch millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles thunder across the endless plains of the Serengeti. With the help of your private guide, you will be searching for the herds throughout the vast plains. In addition to the migratory animals, you will also have the opportunity to see many other animals, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and more. Prepare to be amazed by the natural beauty of Africa’s most renowned park. For a unique wildlife viewing experience, we suggest taking a balloon safari. It is an incredible way to silently float above the plains while observing herds of wildlife, dinner, and overnight at Serengeti wildebeest tented camp.

Day 4: Full Game drive in Serengeti National Park

Escape to the breathtaking Serengeti for an unforgettable full day of game drives on our 3rd night of the itinerary. Rise and shine with a 6 AM wake-up call and enjoy a hot cup of coffee before embarking on an early morning game drive. This is the perfect opportunity to witness the big five in action, including early morning kills. After a few hours of exploring, return to the Lodge at 9:30 AM for a delicious breakfast before continuing on your game drive.

Our knowledgeable guides will select the best locations for spotting wildlife, from the lazy hippos lounging in the freshwater to the impressive lion pride. Witness the migration up close as you venture through the vast grasslands, taking in the stunning landscape of the Serengeti. Marvel at the diversity of animals, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and if you’re lucky, the elusive leopard and cheetah. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the fascinating birdlife, from secretary birds to ostriches. As the sun sets, return to our special tented camp at the Serengeti Wildebeest tented camp for a delicious dinner and a restful overnight stay.

Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Today, you will have the opportunity to explore and go on a game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. With a depth of 600 meters, a width of 16 kilometers, and an area of 265 square kilometers, it is considered one of the world’s most magnificent sights. You can witness black rhinos grazing on the grassy floor of the crater alongside 20,000 other large animals such as lions, cheetahs, elands, zebras, and gazelles. Additionally, you might spot flamingos and other bird species feeding at Makat Soda Lake. After your adventure, you will head back to Marera Valley Lodge for your overnight stay, with meals included.

Day 6: Arusha to Kilimanjaro Airport

Today will be at leisure to relax or explore, depending on your flight. Your driver transfers you to Kilimanjaro Airport for your departure flight and on day 6 you will arrive back home. Do you like to extend your safari with a beach holiday? Tanzania offers perfect paradises to unwind after your safari such as Zanzibar Island.
