Itinerary Description by Day

Day 1: Arrive to JRO and Transfer to Arusha

Welcome to Tanzania, where adventure awaits! Touch down at Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport and let the excitement begin. Your transfer to Moivaro Lodge is just the start of an unforgettable journey. Day 2: Arusha City Tour

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast today before setting off at the beginning of our cultural experience. We explored the city center before participating in Swahili language lessons and learning about the Cultural Rites of Passage. Return to the lodge late afternoon for swimming and relaxation before dinner. Outpost lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 3: Machame Cultural Tourism

Another culture-filled day mixed with a community feel as we head to the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro for the Machame Cultural Tourism Program. We are met by successful women’s groups and take a tour of the local market and cheese factory followed by a traditional Chagga lunch. Hopefully, we will also be blessed with a view of Africa’s highest mountain – and the ‘Snows of Kilimanjaro’. Outpost Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 4: Arusha – Tarangire for Wilderness Walking Adventure

After an early morning breakfast, the game viewing section of the itinerary begins with a transfer to Tarangire for flora and fauna field experiences and an afternoon of Wilderness Walking with a local guide. We arrive late afternoon at our tented camp. MARAMBOI TENTED CAMP (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 5: Game drive in Tarangire and Oldupai Gorge

Drive off across the natural migration path of the inhabitants of Tarangire towards the Crater Highlands after breakfast, and climb the escarpment to be met with a sweeping view across the Great Rift Valley. We continue to Oldupai Gorge for an archaeological tale of the Cradle of Mankind and a lunch box before game driving to our campsite in the Central Serengeti. We have a BBQ of goat for those who dare and an evening of stories around the campfire. NYANI CAMP (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 6: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park

After waking up at sunset and enjoying a quick breakfast, we begin game driving from the camp exit in search of early morning predator activity around the kopjes. The dew on the long grasses attracts a vast array of mammals and birdlife and the coolness of the early morning keeps them content for us to stare in awe of the intrinsic behaviors. We return to the camp for lunch and a midday rest before setting off again in the afternoon to the hippo pool or acacia woodland or nearby water sources. NYANI CAMP (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 7: Serengeti National Park Adventure

Explore the Gol Plains after breakfast en route to the Crater Highlands. We arrive at our camp for a hot lunch before taking a Wilderness Walk with a Maasai guide to learn the wonders of this area, returning in time for a sunset to remain forever in your memory. Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater Adventure

Enter the crater early morning to take full advantage of the approximate 120 species of mammals over 200 species of birdlife and variations of natural habitats. We venture around the entire floor before arriving at our lunch spot lakeside. We depart early afternoon for the scenic transfer to Lake Eyasi – home of the Hadzabe tribe. Day 9: Cultural and Hunting in Lake Eyasi with Hadzabe

Before sunrise we wake to go hunting with the Hadzabe ‘Bushmen’ – a strenuous task as we walk miles in search of small mammals with our bow and poison arrows. We return mid-morning with our ‘hunter-gatherer’ wares and enjoy a well-deserved brunch at the camp. A rest follows and then we can sit with the village elders and discuss the current issues of the area and exchange cultural tales. CHEM CHEM SPRING CAMP (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 10: Game Drive in Lake Manyara and the Rift Valley Floor

We say goodbye to our ‘Bushmen’ friends and return to the Rift Valley floor of Lake Manyara. En route, we enjoy a lunch box and then enter Lake Manyara for an afternoon of game driving the shores of this soda lake. Our camp is 5 minutes from the National Park gate and we arrive there late afternoon for swimming and relaxation before indulging in a delicious camp meal. TWIGA CAMP (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 11: Transfer to Arusha

We enjoy a relaxed morning around the camp and a quick transfer back to Arusha where we check back into our lodge before lunch. A free afternoon follows in which you can visit the local crafts markets, restaurants, or museums. Outpost lodge (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 12: Cultural Tour to Meru People and Walking at Lake Duluti

Today the cultural exchange continues as we enter the tribe of Meru people on the slopes of Mt Meru. We learn local farming techniques as well as the harvesting process of coffee; following the process until we grind and boil a brew for ourselves. A traditional lunch follows before continuing to Lake Duluti for a couple of hours of bird and reptile watching from our canoes as we paddle the circumference of the lake. Day 13: Enjoying the Arusha Nightlife

A free morning for last-minute gift shopping and packing is on the menu after breakfast. As part of our farewell ceremony, we partake in an evening of ‘kanga’ giving and traditional cooking classes before enjoying the Arusha nightlife – guides still on hand for assistance. Day 14: Cultural Tour to Masai Village

A slower morning precedes a visit to Ilkurot ‘Maasai’ Village. We sing and dance with the children before being entertained by the morans (warriors) – dressed in their stunning clothes and beadwork. We return to the hotel late afternoon to rest before enjoying our last evening where we are free to sample the local cuisine ourselves. Outpost Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 15: Transfer to Your Arusha Departure Point

This morning we have an adventure de-briefing followed by a transfer to your Arusha departure point or JRO for your travel beyond.
